Victory Gbakara Wins Nigerian Idol Season Eight

Nigerian singer, Victory Gbakara has claimed the crown in the eighth season of Nigerian Idol.

The announcement of his victory was made during the show’s finale on Sunday.

Nigerian Idol, the local rendition of the globally renowned Idol series, concluded its eighth season with Victory Gbakara taking home the grand prize on Sunday.

Nigerian Idol has been a popular platform in the country since its debut in 2010, marking the country’s 50th anniversary.

It has been part of the Idol family following Nigeria’s participation in Idols West Africa.

With the slogan “Live Your Dream,” the first season kicked off in October 2010.

It became a sought-after platform for Nigerians between 18 and 28 to showcase their musical talents. The show is now broadcast on 15 channels throughout Africa.

This year’s winner, Gbakara, walks away with an impressive N100 million prize, including N35 million in cash, a record deal, and a video shoot.

Sunday’s grand finale was a musical extravaganza featuring all the contestants and the judges.

A group performance kicked off the evening, with judges D’banj, Simi, and Obi Asika leading a rendition of ‘Hall of Fame,’ a 2014 song by the Star of Copenhagen, Switzerland.

This year’s season, hosted by IK Osakioduwa, premiered in April and has been captivating audiences with live shows for 10 weeks, running from April 23 to July 16.
